We're excited to provide our patients with the latest technology available to ensure top-quality care. We utilize instruments like Optomap® by Optos for retinal imaging. The Optomap® produces an image that is unique and provides us with a high-resolution, 200° view of your retina. This is much wider than the traditional 45° image seen with dilation.
Many eye problems can develop without you knowing; in fact, you probably will not even notice any change in your sight early on. Fortunately, diseases or damage such as macular degeneration, glaucoma, retinal tears or detachments, and other health problems such as diabetes and high blood pressure can be seen with a thorough examination of the retina.
Optomap® is a retinal imaging instrument that allows examination of the retina without dilating the eyes. It is safe and suitable for every member of your family, as the eyes remain untouched during the examination process.
Ultra-widefield imaging of the retina is available only in limited practices, and the typical cost is $40 to $50. But we are excited to offer this technology to you, included at no charge at each exam!
Why is the Optomap® Retinal Examination Important?
A scan to show healthy eyes or detect disease.
A view of the retina, giving Dr. Selander a more comprehensive view than he can get by other means.
The opportunity for you to view and discuss the Optomap® image of your eye with Dr. Selander at the time of your exam.
A permanent record for your file, which allows Dr. Selander to view your images each year to look for changes.
